August 7, 2015

I first heard about Lil’ Tykes through word-of-mouth: at 6 months pregnant with my first child I begun polling my friends and family about daycare services in our area; more than one person mentioned them so I had the facility high on my list of places to visit. I spoke with Robert Kimmel on the phone and set up a time for a tour the next week.

Courtney Kimmel led my husband and me through the tour – within a few minutes of the tour I was set on having Lil’ Tykes be the daycare for our daughter. Courtney put me at ease, which was no easy feat at the time as I was entering my third trimester and was very anxious about the whole process. My husband was happy too, he greatly appreciated Courtney’s knowledge and expertise.

We both love that Lil’ Tykes is family-owned and operated; we wanted a daycare that had a personal feel and made us feel welcome – Lil’ Tykes did that from the moment we set up the tour. Our tour made the decision even easier: observing the teachers in the classrooms and seeing how much fun the kids were having…it was obvious to us by the end of the tour that Lil’ Tykes would be the daycare for us.

Fast-forward almost 5 years. We now have 3 kids and all of them have attended or are attending Lil’ Tykes. My eldest daughter grew up there – she started in the infant room at 3 months old in 2011 and just graduated from the Pre-K program in the spring of 2015. My younger daughter also started when she turned 3 months in 2013 and is about half-way through her time there; she just received her congratulations letter to move up to the next classroom. And my youngest, my son, is beginning his Lil’ Tykes journey – he started at 3 months as well, early in 2015. It was a no-brainer for us to enroll each of our children here; we were (and continue to be) thrilled with the teachers and the rest of the staff.
Our children have learned so much from their time at Lil’ Tykes: the “3 Rs” (reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic), kindness and respect toward others as well as toward themselves. They have made friendships that have I hope will continue long after they walk across the stage at their graduation. The teachers have fostered a love of learning and a love of fun – a very important balance at this time in their developmental years.

And it’s not just our children who have benefitted from their time at Lil’ Tykes; my husband and I have also learned from the teachers and the staff. We greatly appreciate the staff’s willingness to let us pick their brains about how we can be better parents for our children; it truly takes a village to raise kids!

I would (and have!) highly recommend Lil’ Tykes to any parent looking for a daycare.
